Crocheting is a simple hobby and a perfect way to relax (in my humble opinion). Some find, however, that the process as a newbie can be somewhat confusing. Crochet Patterns Blog would like to show you that the learning curve for crocheting is slight. And that you can begin this creative and historic pastime with a few supplies, your time, and for many people less than $30 (or so).
Beginners Patterns
Crochet is based on about five basic stitches. You need a hook and yarn and we will use crochet patterns to assist in making a little of everything.
We start with beginners patterns and graduate to mixing up our featured patterns to include projects that are more advanced. If you stick with us, expect to make the following using a pattern: baby blanket, shawl, afghan, scarf, hat, and much much more.
Crochet Patterns Made Easy
You will:
- Built your understanding and ability to create basic stitches;
- Read crochet patterns;
- Identify the appropriate materials (i.e., yarn, hook, etc.) needed for your projects;
- Create several pieces;
- Begin working with advance stitches (eventually); and
- Learn to make your process of crocheting your own.
Together, we will work through crochet patterns interactively using videos, our monthly newsletter, and with your help, we would also like to host online chat discussions about the selected project for the month.
September 2009 Focus is Crochet Hats
For the month of September will focus on making two crochet hats based on different patterns. The first project will post early next week. The instructions will include materials needed—yarn, recommended hook size, a list of the stitches used for the project, and any special instructions.
As we progress, we will post pictures and answer any questions. We strongly encourage your comments, suggestions, feedback.
Until Next Week
Thank you for joining us. Let the crocheting begin!
